Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Rancho Cordova public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Community Food Hub
The Food Hub's new market-style facility opened in August and now serves over 1,500 families a week, six times the 2022 level. Leaders warned demand will grow as federal food assistance changes hit in 2027.
Police Activities League youth programs
PAL serves 3,000+ kids a year through free programs — Junior Giants baseball, Adventure Club outings, bike rodeos, and Christmas in Cordova. Councilmember Sander asked for a growth plan to reach more kids.
Community engagement and beautification programs
The city's Community Engagement Division runs programs residents can use directly: microgrants for neighborhood projects, free drought-tolerant front-yard conversions for income-qualified homeowners, up to $500 for removing inoperable vehicles and $1,000 for chain-link fence removal, home repairs through nonprofits, free shade trees, and Good Neighbor Days events.
Rossmoor Bar Trail Plan
The city is formalizing trails in the American River Parkway's Rossmoor Bar with wayfinding signs, an accessible path along Rossmoor Drive, and closing unofficial 'social' trails. Estimated construction cost is $3-5 million, still to be grant-funded.
